In 1918, shortly after Dominican was founded, Corona Williams and Robert Anderson got married. As a wedding gift, Corona’s parent gifted her a house next to her childhood home. The Williams family resided on what is known today as 250 and 120 Locust Ave, and they gifted what is know was 226 Magnolia Ave. The house was more than a gift, it was a special connection to Corona’s personal history. The yellow house was kept in the family for years, until 1983. In 1983 the house was sold to Peggy W. Woodring, Robert Bell and, JoAnne Fabian. By the time Fabian and Woodring bought the home it had been on the market for 9 months, it was completely empty and ran down.

After their purchase, the new owners began refurbishing their new home. Prior to their purchase, the yellow house was 3,000 sq ft. After their remodeling, they added a new wing known as the library wing. As well as increasing the number of bedrooms to 11 and bathrooms to 5 and a half. Three of the bedrooms were furnished into home offices, while the half bathroom became a small bathroom without a shower.

In late 2018, the yellow house, known as Magnolia house, began small detail reconstruction. The typical yellow color changed its hue as well as the window panel. If a person were to go in and visit magnolia house today they would meet the admission department. The first floor that used to be a living room is now the waiting room for prospective students waiting for their tours. The dining room is now a meeting room where large meetings are held. Magnolia has come a long way from the simple yellow home gifted as a wedding present to now the home for many prospective students interested in Dominican University of California.
